I agree. The issue I face is how can I trust my experience as a leader? Often times new leaders doubt their leadership (perhaps not in attitude but when putting things on paper they struggle) and look to others for approval. when experience has not been plentiful, yet you are in a place to “create” vision – where do you turn?

Great comment and question Roy. I think that you introduce an important and healthy tension for leaders. I think patience is key for young leaders as it is entirely possible to “force” vision. If a young leader has not had their own “Nehemiah experience” they may be better off following another leader’s vision until their own crystalizes. Ultimately leaders must trust God, and not their experience with their vision, without turning their back on the wisdom that comes through experience.

  • Will,
Thanks for blurbing VisionalLife website regarding Nelson’s article. Looking forward to reading Church Unique.
