What I see here is the crisis is like a magic magnetic field which aligns the front end of the car to go in a consistent direction.
A clear vision, however, tightens all the bolts on the steering mechanism, making the external magnetic field unneccesary. The car moves with or without it.
This holds for individuals as well as churches, it seems to me.

Love the idea that with vision we choose the crisis. Related to one of my favorite ideas, “There is no problem-free.” Choosing the problems we’d rather have is right up this alley. Thanks!

Really enjoyed this post. Reminds me of a profound message by John Ortberg during a Leadership Summit. “What is your shadow mission? Often times our shadow mission takes over the real mission we should be working to achieve. Beneath our mission for God lies our shadow mission. All Christians have one. Some give in to it, and some don’t, but it lurks beneath the surface nonetheless.”
