Looking forward to the ebook.
Will, I am very interested in this. Our church will turn 10 years old next year and we are finally cutting out some things that we should have never started.
Excellent points and I have struggled with them all at some point. Some appear to be true especially # 2. Some people don’t stay because an option is missing. However, it’s easy to add and add and in the run hurt the church. Looking forward to reading more.
I think we may be guilty of this so I’d love to know how to evaluate that and make changes.
Wow, I’m sorry I just found this post. Can’t wait to read the ebook. We are working through Church Unique right now and you have totally nailed us on #4. Our ministry team leaders have a terrible time saying no to anything new and after 50 years we are buried beneath a sea of pet projects. We are working hard to realign and get some clarity around our unique calling. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Been working through some of these very questions in evaluating how we can simplify and create margin in our church. With close to a 75 year history, there are a lot areas that need pruning and the mission and purpose of our church needs revisited. Thanks for giving us some probing myths to be aware of as we go through the process.
Not sure how I missed this post! Like so much of what you’re writing, this will be a great staff meeting activity.
Please add me to the list! This sounds like an outstanding book. Very helpful.
We have a constant struggle in claifying the differance between a vision and program initiatives. Theses questions seem really helpful

Good stuff!
I am very interested in:
“MYTH #6 A Good Leader Involves More People in Decision-making”
What is the context and essence in this? Should not more people be involved in decision making? Especially those who are the leaders?
Thank you.
Looking forward to the Ebook.
Hi Will –
Thank you for this post! I am excited to read the new book once it arrives. We just started the “Church Unique” vision process in our church. For nearly 30 years the local church has floundered with no true vision, but that of each pastor that was hired. Finally, we are going to spend time going thru it and using things such as “Clarity” and “Vision Frame”
Thanks for all you do
Dan
I have heard every one of these myths in leadership conversations. More is not always better. We need some clarity here. Help!
This is good stuff. Very helpful for where I’m at. Thanks for the goods!
I would love for our church leadership to grasp these concepts… having a book to place in their hands would be a great start to see that happen. (Having you, Will, come and place it in their hands and guide them through it would be better…)
Looking forward to the book…would love a copy!
Since Church Unique was probably the most influential book in developing my understanding of the purpose of the church, I believe this one will, no doubt be just as exciting. Thanks Will for all you do.
Loved Church Unique. Intrigued by the myths…
