Make Content That Makes Disciples
What I Love about Cory Hartman's Book "From 'Show Up' to 'Grow Up'"
A new resource shows you how to produce outbound content that works with disciple-making and real church growth instead of working against them.

This week we had fun releasing a new service at Auxano. We are calling it the Church Communication Virtual Audit. For years we have done communication audits onsite through our Vision Framing work and our Guest Perspective Evaluations. We find [...]
This second post in a church communications series, will make more sense if you read the first, The 3 Branding Strategies for ChurchesIt's unbelievable how quickly churches fragment their message. It's easy for staff and volunteers the create stuff that feels [...]
In 2004 the marketing guru David Aaker, published a book entitled Brand Portfolio Strategy, in which he describes a tool called a “Brand Relationship Spectrum” to help simplify the world of brands when companies steward multiple products or services. Revisiting [...]
Over the years the Auxano Design team has helped churches think more strategically about guest engagement. (Read 10 Mind Blowing Facts to Fuel your Hospitality Ministry). One great idea is to create a separate website for guests. At Auxano, we [...]
In Church 3.0, Neil Cole discusses several catalysts for creating movement. One of them is called the "Surprising Proposition."First of all why would anyone want to go through life without a Surprising Proposition to share? If we belong to the [...]
Kent Shaffer at Church Relevance shares some good stuff. I appreciate the fact that they do what they do to serve the Church. And he has learned the "big official list" gets lots of attention in the church leader space. [...]
This is the fourth post on "Vehicles for Vision."The series started with an exploration of why preaching should not be your primary vision vehicle. Then we reviewed six vehicles that every church leader should use. Next we declared the leadership [...]
One year ago, I blogged a 7 part series that I thought was worth revisiting on the application of Seth Godin's book, Tribes, to church leadership. Because I picked up the pace of writing since that time, many have started [...]
"Denomination" and "momentum" are two words that don't often go in the same sentence. That's why I think that St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA is a church to watch. Under the leadership of Richard Kannwhischer, the church has experienced [...]
I just finished a great day with the Faithbridge team and the folks at Granger Community Church in South Bend, IN. The team is made up of humble and leadership-savvy folks who serve the broader church through great coaching and content. [...]
Seth Godin writes with a dash of bravado and his overstatements are both playful and insightful. But on the topic of communication, he delivers what he calls "the essential lesson" and it's not exaggerated."The essential lesson is that every day [...]
I want you and your ministry to experience the benefits of stunning, God-given clarity. As a pastor turned vision coach, I’ve worked with an unprecedented variety of churches from growing mega-churches and missional communities, to mainline revitalization and church plants. I started several interconnected organizations that help the church embody the movement that Jesus founded. My visionary planning tools, the Vision Frame and the Horizon Storyline, are used by thousands of churches every year through my calling to raise up other consultants and trainers. In 2004 I started Auxano, which I sold to LifeWay. In 2014, I founded Younique to deliver gospel-centered life design through the church. It is now the world's only comprehensive, open source, life planning system. In 2019, I founded Denominee to help networks and denominations reinvent how they bring value to the church. I've written seven books, including Future Church, Younique, Clarity Spiral, God Dreams, Innovating Discipleship, and Church Unique. I enjoy speaking about how to live a life of more meaningful progress. I live in Houston with my wife, Romy, and I have four children.
I currently work with a small group of churches and leaders. If you are interested in life planning or executive coaching individually or taking your church through a Vision Framing engagement based on Future Church, just reach out to set up a conversation.
